Les chemins de Mélusine
Description
This hike will lead you to discover the communal forest of Cruzy le Châtel. The highlight of your hike will be the ascent to the mysterious Renaissance castle of Maulnes. From the top of its promontory, this pentagonal castle, unique in France, will offer you a magnificent panorama of the surrounding landscapes.
1. Facing the church, take rue de la Ville, then at the crossroads, turn left on rue de la Fontaine. When you arrive at the washhouse, turn right onto rue du Val and then rue des Charrières.
2. Take the grassy path on your left and continue straight to a white path. Borrow it by turning right. Continue straight to the forest.
3. When you arrive in the forest, ignore the tracks or paths that go left or right and continue straight on the same track.
4. The track descends and then turns left. At this level, turn right and take the track that rushes into the forest.
5. The track descends regularly and you arrive at a fork. Leave the track to take a grassy path that goes to the right. This path quickly turns into an undergrowth track. You stay on this one and go straight ahead.
6. You arrive on the D12, take a left to the Château de Maulnes then go back down to this point and take the path on your left. Take the third path on the right.
7. When you reach the intersection, turn right and continue straight ahead. You arrive at a fork, take the right to join the D12 at the entrance of Cruzy-le-Châtel.
8. Turn left on rue des Promenades then take the grassy path that goes up to the left. You arrive at the town hall. Turn right to reach the starting point towards the church.
